POSITAL’s Multiturn Counter Module is a zero-maintenance rotation counter designed to be integrated into motors or other types of rotating machinery. This provides their control systems with a reliable count of the number of rotations the machine has completed. These modules can be used in many situations where rotation counts are needed.
The features of the new multiturn counter encoder can be seen below:
- Proven Smart Multiturn (40 Bit Range)
- Reliable Wiegand Technology
- No Battery – No Gear
- SPI Protocol for Cost Effective Integration
- 8 Bit Singleturn Included
- Substantial Diagnostic Coverage
Furthermore, A special feature of POSITAL’s multiturn counter module is a Wiegand wire-based energy harvesting system. The Wiegand sensor powers the counter and memory circuits. An important advantage of this system is that it completely eliminates any need to check, replace and dispose of backup batteries. Additionally, he counter module uses magnetic sensing technology and requires a small permanent magnet mounted on the rotating shaft. A Wiegand sensor on the module generates a small amount of electrical energy with each rotation of the magnet. Thus, activating the counter and ensuring that each rotation is reliably recorded. Also, output from the Wiegand system is nearly speed-independent, so that the counter module will reliably record rotations for speeds ranging from near-zero to 12,000 RPM. The measurement range is 43 bits, or almost 9 trillion net turns.
Ultimately, the new multiturn counter module provides a reliable, easy to use option for any system in which rotation count is required. View our full POSITAL range here.
